The copper line is going away
Phone carriers are retiring copper (POTS) service across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. Fire alarm panels, elevator phones, burglar alarms and fax lines that still dial out over copper will stop reporting — often without anyone noticing until an inspection or an emergency.
